Tessemae's All Natural

Annapolis, Maryland

The story of Tessemae’s All Natural began in the 1980’s when Teresa Vetter was looking for a way to get her three growing boys to eat their vegetables.

Many of her friends used store-bought salad dressings and sauces to disguise the vegetables but Teresa was put off by the highly processed condiments. Seeking out a healthy topper, Vetter concocted her own special dressing made of simple, natural ingredients. Her dressing was a hit with her boys.

Confident in its quality, Greg Vetter took bottles of his mother’s dressing into his local Whole Foods Market to get a meeting with a team member.  He walked out having booked a deal with Whole Foods Market -- and Tessemae’s All Natural was born.

Pounding the pavement, Greg, along with his two brothers, Brian and Matt, his wife Gigi, and his mother, have spent the last few years doing in-store demonstrations and growing their fan base. They’ve expanded the product line to include Lemon Garlic, Lemonette, Balsamic and Lemon Pepper.  The dressing can be found at 61 Whole Foods throughout the mid-Atlantic, Graul’s Market and area restaurants like Federal Hill gastropub 1542 (formerly the Reserve).

The company employs six full-time workers and plans to hire three or four additional full-time employees in the next couple of months. It also plans to hire 60 part-time employees to do grocery store demonstrations.
