NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ARTS / CULTURAL / ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS
What impact can art make on communities?

The Maryland Institute College of Art will hold a free panel discussion "Art as a Tool for Change" on this topic April 2. The discussion will highlight the national impact of art on community development, focusing on MICA’s current arts research and advocacy efforts.

The event is part of MICA's Baltimore Art + Justice Project, which seeks to connect arts organizations with advocates for social change. The project received a two-year, $150,000 grant from the Open Society Foundations.

Mark J. Stern of the Social Impact of the Arts Project at the University of Pennsylvania will join MICA faculty members and Kalima Young, the Baltimore Art + Justice Project coordinator at next month's lecture.
