The 2013-2014 season marks the Baltimore Concert Opera’s fifth year and the group is inviting its fans to celebrate while taking in its first performance of the season.

The celebration includes a pre-opera party, with live music from the Unified Jazz Ensemble, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. All that is required for admittance to the party is a ticket to any of the BCO’s 2013-2014 shows.

After the party, the BCO will start their performance season with Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”, a comic tale about the dangers of trusting magic potions to win your love. The opera’s upcoming season also includes “Norma”, “Les Pêcheurs de Perles” and “Il Trovatore.”

The Baltimore Concert Opera’s shows are done in the concert opera format, which includes a complete opera with the soloists, chorus and conductor on stage. However, there are no sets or costumes, allowing the main focus to be the musical performance.
