Step OUT for the 3rd annual
Betascape, a weekend full of lectures and labs that explore the intersection of art and technology.
Held at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Betascape will take place Sept. 22-23 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Billed as a weekend-long "exploratorium," Betascape keynote speakers include robotics engineer Hod Lipson and industrial designer Marco Perry.
The theme of this year's event is "Tools & Technologies Bringing Down the Barriers to Creating." Discussions will center around how new data visualization, physical computing and other technologies are shrinking the barriers to entry to creative and technical fields.
"Think of an East Coast technology version of South by Southwest (SXSW), a set of film, interactive and music festivals held each spring in Austin, Texas," BmoreMedia
wrote in its story about Baltimore's inaugural Betascape.
Tickets cost $50 for students and early birds who register by Aug. 15. Regular admission is $75 thereafter.
