TALL SHIPS AT THE INNER HARBOR
TALL SHIPS AT THE INNER HARBOR
Oh say can you see… 40 ships, air shows, festival villages and fireworks?

It's all part of the Star-Spangled Sailabration, the national launch of the three-year commemoration of the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the penning of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”  The celebration kicks off Wednesday, June 13 with a flotilla of more than 40 tall ships and naval vessels and goes through Tuesday, June 19.

Highlights of the Sailabration include opportunities to tour visiting ships from 12 countries and the world premiere of Overture for 2012, a new symphonic work composed by Philip Glass and performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Sunday, June 17 at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

The weeklong celebration also features the Star-Spangled Air Show on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17, from 1-4 p.m. The free show, which includes aviation acts by the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, will take place over the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River.

Public viewing locations include Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, MedStar Harbor Hospital, and Port Covington. The show will also be broadcast live on large LED screens at the Inner Harbor and Fells Point.
