Ending the summer with “Cinema Paradiso” in Little Italy is a tradition for many Charm City residents. Little Italy’s outdoor film festival is just one of many in Greater Baltimore. Fells Point, Federal Hill, Towson and Columbia are showcasing everything from family friendly flicks to classic thrillers.
Check out your summer movie options below. All of the film festivals are free.
American Visionary Art Museum
What:
AVAM’s Flicks From The Hill
When: Thursday nights at 9 p.m. through Aug. 22
Where: The Hughes Family Outdoor Theater on Federal Hill
The American Visionary Art Museum will screen films that fit the theme of their current exhibition, “The Art of Storytelling: Lies, Entertainment, Humor, and Truth.” The movies will be presented on a 30-foot wide screen in the amphitheater on Federal Hill.

Lakefront Summer Festival
When: Mondays and Fridays through Aug. 23, Sundays and Fridays Aug. 24 – Sept. 14; movie starts about 8:30 p.m.
Where: The lawn at Columbia Town Center Lakefront on Little Patuxent Parkway
As part of the Columbia Association’s annual Lakefront Summer Festival, films will be shown bi-weekly at dusk. On Fridays, free dance instruction will also be offered prior to the movie.

When: Fridays through Aug. 23, Movie starts at 9 p.m., 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 23
Where: Corner of High and Stiles Street
Cost: Free
This year, the Cinema al Fresco goes into its 15
th year of offering free films to the public. Live music is presented at 7 p.m. before the movies are projected onto the outside wall of the Ciao Bella Restaurant from a rowhome across the street. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and set up a lawn chair, as only a limited number of folding chairs will be provided. Free popcorn will be offered to guests.

Summer Moonlight Movie Series
When: July 26, Aug. 9 and 23, Movie starts around 8:45
Where: Lower level parking lot of The Shops at Kenilworth
Family-friendly movies will be shown at dark. Before the screening, there will be activities including games and a photo booth, as well as prizes ranging from Orioles tickets to store gift certificates. Attendees are advised to bring their own chair and picnic dinner.
