It's happening in Bmore!

It's good food for a good cause! Sant�: An Epicurean Adventure will be held Sunday, June 13, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the American Visionary Art Museum. Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland, helping the organization to expand its patient services, education and research efforts.

Billed as one of the region's premier food and beverage events, Sant� will feature guided food and beverage tastings, chef demonstrations, live music by Bob Margolis & The Blues Philosophers and Daysahead, and a silent auction featuring culinary-themed travel packages, gourmet wine dinners, sports memorabilia, work by local artists and more.

Participating restaurants and food purveyors include a veritable who's who of Baltimore's top restaurants and chefs:  B&O American Brasserie, Baltimore Cupcake Company, Blue Hill Tavern, Chesapeake Fine Food Group, Clementine, Corks, Crush, Linwoods, Milan, Neopol Savory Smokery, RA Sushi and The Wine Market. As an added treat, Parfections will provide chocolates containing beer, wine, spirits and liqueurs. Among the chefs giving demonstrations are Joy Ludwig, pastry chef at Charleston, Sandy Lawler, chef/owner of Feast @ 4 East and Jesse Sandlin, executive chef at Vino Rosina, who appeared on Bravo's Top Chef.

What's good food without a glass of good beer or wine? So, the event will also feature American craft beer vendors include Allagash, Anchor, The Brewer's Art, Flying Dog, Harpoon, Heavy Seas, Lagunitas, North Coast, Smuttynose, Stillwater Artisanal Ales, Stone, 21st Amendment and Weyerbacher. European beers include Ayinger (Germany), Lindeman's (Belgium), Orval (Belgium), Pinkus Organic (Germany), Rochefort, (Belgium), Samuel Smith (England), Traquair House Ale (Scotland), Westmalle (Belgium) and Zatec (Czech Republic).

Aveniu Brands will pour wines from around the world; the Maryland Wine Association will serve Maryland's best wines; Laurie Forster, aka "The Wine Coach" will offer interactive and informal wine tasting instruction, and Boylan Bottling will provide artisanal sodas using all-natural ingredients.

A VIP tasting at 2 p.m. will feature premium food and beverage pairings, as well as the following guided tastings not available at the main event: gin by Nelson Carey, rum by Joe Squared owner, Joe Edwardsen, and tequila by Blue Agave owner, Liz Atwood.

Tickets for the premium tasting are $100/person and $75/person in advance, $85 at the door for general admission. Tickets for anyone acting as a designated driver (no alcohol) are $40. Sponsorships also are available.

The Charm City Circulator is adding a new route. The Purple Route, the North-South line began rolling through the streets of Baltimore June 7. It connects Federal Hill with Penn Station and all of the other adjacent neighborhoods such as Charles Belvedere. It will serve the Station North Arts District, Mercy Hospital, the University of Baltimore and all of the hotels, boutiques, eateries and other attractions along the Charles and St. Paul Streets corridors.
