Not Another Shakespeare Company
Not Another Shakespeare Company
Did you know there are hundreds of non-profits in Baltimore trying to meet the needs of the city's underserved citizens? If you've been thinking about doing something to give back to the community but aren't sure about the next step, "Do Something" presented by the Business Volunteers Unlimited of Maryland will help you find your way.

The event, held tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the American Visionary Arts Museum, will feature a keynote address by Joe Jones from the Center for Urban Families followed by a networking reception with some of the city's amazing charitable organizations. Register online or just walk-in. A $10 fee (that benefits BVU) gets you in the door, with food provided by local restaurants.

You'd have to live under a rock not to know that this is Artscape weekend. Just steps away from the nation's largest free arts festival, however, the Not Another Shakespeare Company will perform its production of the Bard's Love's Labour Lost It's a little something different  and a perfect way to cap a day spent navigating the crowds on Mt. Royal Avenue.

The mission of Not Another Shakespeare Company is to make Shakespeare and other classical playwrights more exciting and accessible to students in the Baltimore area and by giving them a hands-on, in-control theatrical experience on stage and off. This will be achieved by providing middle and high school aged students opportunities to act, design, direct, produce, and stage manage within a community of their peers. In addition, NASC will use the texts of Shakespeare's contemporaries along with his own works to create a more complete image of Elizabethan drama while being mentored by theatre professionals.

Tickets are $10 for all shows and can be reserved via email or purchased at the door; only cash and check will be accepted. The three remaining performances, July 15 at  3 p.m., July 16 at 7 p.m. and July 17 at 3 p.m., will take place at the LOF/t (Load of Fun Theatere)  located at 120 West North Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland.
