In its quest for a piece of the American Dream, Taharka Bros., a venture of the Sylvan Beach Foundation, serves up societal change one scoop of ice cream at a time. The socially conscious driven frozen treat maker offers opportunity to young men in Baltimore who might otherwise slip through the proverbial cracks. Using their ice cream parlors as a training ground, the young men learn about entrepreneurship and business strategy as well as the benefits of education and hard work. Profits are channeled back to the non-profit Foundation.
The goals of the Sylvan Beach Foundation are divided into equally powerful areas. Business--It aspire to develop Taharka Brothers into the next power play, the next Ben and Jerry's of Baltimore, and to fight the other giants of the market. Community--The company's community aspirations are no less lofty. It believes in using business as a platform to learn the qualities of leadership that make all of our lives better!
