The watercolor creations of
Bryan Collier will be on display in a new exhibit at the
Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture. The museum will feature more than 40 images from seven of the award-winning artist's children's books."Defining Moments" kicks off with a Jan. 19 reception and book signing. The reception and museum admission that day is free.
An African American illustrator who grew up on the lower Eastern Shore, Collier is known for his innovative blending of watercolor and collage in his artwork. Collier has received several awards including the Caldecott Honor, Coretta Scott King Award for Illustrators, and the Jane Addams Children's Book Awards for Picture Book.
