Thousands of nonprofits with tens of thousands of employees offer a multitude of services that help improve the lives of Baltimore's citizens, its neigborhoods and the entire city.

On tap this weekend is Open Space Arts' Summer Playwrights' Festival held at the group's outdoor theater in Reisterstown, MD.

Baltimoreans (heck all of Maryland) loves blue crabs. To celebrate its first anniversary, the B&O American Brasserie is hosting its first annual Crab Bash. Seven chefs competing to create the best crab dish -- and it's all for a good cause! Sounds like a good time!

Global Pathways Project explores the world, no passport required

It doesn't matter whether your passport is slightly mangled and loaded with stamps from your trips abroad or if you can't find Paraguay on a map. Global Pathways Project proves that Baltimore is an international city, giving children and adults an opportunity to experience the world's cultures without ever leaving the city.

There's Whartscape, of course, but if you'd like to try something with air conditioning step on over to the BSO as the orchestra celebrates two sons of Baltimore -- Frank Zappa and Philip Glass -- while showcasing Baltimore beatboxer, Shodekeh. We've also compiled a list of the areas outdoor movie venues for those who love watching great flicks under the stars.

Betascape highlights vibrancy, creativity of Baltimore's tech community

Including a technology showcase in the nation's largest free arts festival may leave many arts lovers scratching their heads. Baltimore's tech community doesn't think combining the two is strange at all. In fact they see Betascape, the latest addition to Artscape, as their coming out party, demonstrating to area residents and the rest of the country that Bmore's tech scene is badass.
